The "Kleine Ring" is a very charming place in Hermannstadt. It is surrounded by the Bridge of Lies (Lügenbrücke), the Treasure Chest (Casa Artelor), various restaurants, the Pharmacy Museum, the old Council Tower, the Catholic Church, and various other houses (Luxemburghaus).

Right next to the mighty city parish church stands a building that seems to be built not just of stone, but of pure knowledge: the Brukenthal School. Formerly "Brukenthal" or simply "the Bruk", today "National College Samuel von Brukenthal" or "Colegiul Național Samuel von Brukenthal". It is not just a school, it is an institution. For centuries, curious children have been turned into clever minds here. Its corridors echo with the generations who have crammed, debated, celebrated, and secretly exchanged love letters under the wooden benches. This school has survived wars, seen ages come and go, dictatorships fall and new eras dawn. But the German word and the spirit of the Enlightenment have always remained. It was founded in 1380 (about 15 years after the founding of the University of Vienna on March 12, 1365). It was named in 1912 after none other than Samuel von Brukenthal, the great baron who knew that education is the most valuable treasure one can possess.

You just have to imagine: if the Evangelical City Parish Church could speak today, it would probably have the deep, pleasant voice of a very old wise person. Its masonry has certainly experienced and seen a lot in its over 600 years of city history. It has experienced sieges where the people of Hermannstadt held their breath. It has experienced magnificent weddings where the organ played with such joy that the church tower shook, and it has experienced countless generations of Hermannstadt's citizens, accompanying them from baptism, through confirmation and wedding, to their final journey. A visit to the church tower is highly recommended. The four small corner turrets offer a wonderful view of the old town, the Făgăraș Mountains in the background, and across Transylvania. 73 meters high, whoever built so high in the past certainly had the say in this beautiful city. The gravestones of the old patricians of Hermannstadt have now been largely built into the walls so that they are not damaged. Sometimes, when it is very quiet, you can still hear the tapping of the stonemasons from the 14th century. It is very beautiful and I would say: it is the memory of this city.

The German name is Pempflingerstiege. In the evening, the romantic lighting bathes the old bricks in a soft amber light. It is one of those magical moments between centuries, the old proud walls, the wide sky of Transylvania and the winding heart of the old town.

Pasajul Scarilor (Stairway Alley) is a captivating stone and brick walkway in the heart of Sibiu. Built in the 14th century, this architectural gem served a crucial role in connecting the Upper Town with the Lower Town, forming part of the third fortification belt that protected the medieval city. Rising some 10 metres high by means of two terraces, the Upper Town's defensive wall is supported by sturdy buttresses resting on arches that rise above the Lower Town's buildings, some of which are six centuries old. The first building on the south side of the passage houses the "Golden Barrel" restaurant, one of the oldest restaurants in Romania. Legend has it that Mihai Viteazul himself had dined here after the Battle of Selimbar.
