Embark on a challenging hike along the Alta Via dell'Adamello from Rifugio Tassara Bazena to Rifugio Tita Secchi. This difficult route stretches for 9.5 miles (15.3 km) and involves a significant elevation gain of 2331 feet (711 metres), taking you approximately 5 hours and 13 minutes to complete. As you traverse the gravel paths and rocky terrain, you will encounter the distinctive cow-shaped rock formation at Passo della Vacca, a clear landmark that gives the area its name, before reaching the serene Lago della Vacca.

To begin your adventure, head to Rifugio Tassara Bazena, where you will find ample parking and picnic areas. The trail is well-marked with the white-red signs of Trail No. 1 of Adamello, guiding you through the diverse landscapes. This section of the Alta Via is best enjoyed during favorable weather conditions, as it includes high mountain sections that can be exposed. Plan to start early to allow plenty of time to complete the route before dusk.

This historic trail winds through the Adamello Nature Park, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The route follows old mule tracks and paths that were used during the White War, a part of the First World War fought in the Alps. You will experience wide views of Val Fredda, a beautiful basin where the white limestone of Corna Bianca creates striking white sand along the path, adding to the distinctive character of this memorable journey.
