    Hiking

The Tita Secchi refuge is located at the foot of the south face of the Cornone di Blumone (2,843 meters above sea level), near Lago della Vacca.
The following is engraved on a plaque: "TITA SECCHI Partisan of the Fiamme Verdi, 16-06-1915 16-09-1944. Captured with his group near the Corna Blacca, he was taken to Brescia and imprisoned. Sentenced to death, he alone could have saved himself on payment of a large ransom: his answer was "all or none" and, at dawn on 16 September 1944, he was shot with a his companions."

Embark on a difficult 12.5 miles (20.2 km) hike from Gaver to Rifugio Tita Secchi, gaining 3890 feet (1186 metres) in elevation over approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes. This challenging route guides you through varied landscapes, transitioning from lush floodplain forests where streams meander to expansive alpine pastures. You will experience the raw beauty of the Adamello Regional Park, culminating at the Rifugio Tita Secchi, nestled beneath the impressive south face of Cornone di Blumone.

To begin your adventure, head to Locanda Gaver, which serves as the starting point for this trail. Given the difficult rating and significant duration, it is crucial to start early in the day to allow ample time for completion before nightfall. Ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate gear, sufficient water, and provisions for a full day of hiking in alpine conditions. Always check local weather forecasts before setting out, as conditions can change rapidly in the mountains.

This trail offers more than just stunning views; it also provides a glimpse into a significant historical past. As you hike, you will encounter remnants of an old military hospital and pass through areas like Passo Termine, which served as a front-line position during World War I. Embark on a challenging hike through Adamello Park with the Climb to Rifugio Tita Secchi passing through Blumone bivouac — Ring tour. This difficult route covers 9.1 miles (14.6 km) with a significant elevation gain of 3779 feet (1152 metres), typically taking around 6 hours and 56 minutes to complete. You will traverse varied terrain, from dirt roads through meadows to rocky sections requiring easy climbing and occasional use of hands. The trail offers expansive panoramic views, especially from the Cornone di Blumone, and overlooks the enchanting Lago della Vacca near Rifugio Tita Secchi.

This hike demands very good fitness, sure-footedness, sturdy shoes, and alpine experience; it is not recommended if you suffer from vertigo. Be prepared for sections of an old military mule track, some of which may be damaged, and a diagonal traverse over scree that can be snow-covered. The descent, in particular, can be tricky due to unstable stones, so exercise maximum caution. In early summer or with fresh snow, the trail becomes significantly more challenging and may require crampons and ice axes.

The route is notable as a ring tour, providing diverse perspectives of the landscape. You will encounter the welcoming Rifugio Tita Secchi, a great stop for local cuisine, and the rustic, self-managed Blumone bivouac, offering basic shelter in a high-altitude setting. The trail also holds historical significance, passing by ruins of WWI defense lines, and forms a section of the longer Alta Via dell'Adamello (Sentiero numero 601).
