There used to be a wooden chapel on the site of today's St. George's Church. The chapel was demolished in 1692 because it was in a state of disrepair. In 1696, St. George's Church was built as a half-timbered building on the demolition site. In 1986, after extensive renovation work, St. George's Church was inaugurated as a concert hall and today serves as a venue for concerts and exhibitions.
