Large hostel with a great view, space for lots of hikers and tired cyclists. Make sure to reserve a place in advance - it's always very full in summer! About 550 meters from Finse train station. With shared rooms, drying room and good showers.

The station is the destination of many cyclists on the Rallarvegen coming from Haugastøl. It is the highest station in Northern Europe at 1222 meters and is surrounded by a unique landscape. You can sit here for a break and wonder where all the people waiting for the train in this wilderness come from. The station is also famous for its webcam, which you can use to observe the Norwegian winter.

One of the largest DNT cabins that I know. And it has everything: from a double room to a dormitory, delicious food and even its own brewery in the basement. Not to forget the large "Tørkerom", the drying room for drying your wet clothes. I spent two very comfortable nights here on a trip around Hardangerjøkulen, where I had to sit out the bad weather for a day. The prices are typical for Norway but of course much cheaper than the two local hotels.

Rallarvegen the Navvies'Road) is the old construction road along the Bergen line from Haugastøl to Myrdal and further on to Flåm. A cultural, bicycle, and walking path, built in the years 1895-1902, the trip was named Norway's most beautiful bike path several times. Because of the altitude difference from Haugastøl, (988 m), round Taugevatn (1301m) to Flåm (2m), it is recommended for cyclists to travel westwards. The route is closed for vehicles approximately 15 km west of Haugastøl at Storurdivatnet (1140m), and it continues purely as a trail/cycle-track the rest of the way. Further along, at 1222 metres above sea level, you pass Finse, Norway's highest railway station. For the nerd in you - this is also where the scenes on Hoth, the ice planet, for "Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back" were shot. The final 20 km goes through Flåmsdalen, a valley famous for its beauty and one of Northern Europe's most exciting railway journeys. The line falls 865 m over the course of the valley starting with 21 switchbacks next to an impressive waterfall.
