Hardangervidda National Park is Europe's largest high-mountain plateau, covering approximately 1,320 square miles (3,422 square kilometers) in Norway. It features a landscape of barren moorlands, numerous lakes, rivers, and streams. The park is vital for protecting Europe's largest wild reindeer herds.

Key natural features include the Vøringsfossen waterfall, a spectacular 597-foot (182-meter) cascade. The Hardangerjøkulen glacier, one of Norway's largest, is also a prominent landmark. The Husedalen Valley is known for its four powerful waterfalls.
Hardangervidda features an extensive network of mountain cabins, some staffed and others self-serviced. These are managed by the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association (DNT) and connect many of the hiking and ski routes. They provide accommodation for multi-day treks.
