Nice place to jog as there are trees along most of the trail to provide shade and a wind barrier. The trail itself is mostly packed dirt or gravel and a loop is 1.5 miles around making it a nice place to train for the 5K, 10K and Half Marathon distances.

The name of this lake is no coincidence; it's named for Mount Trashmore, which from this perspective you can see rising above the opposite shore. This 60-foot-tall "mountain" was created by compacting solid waste and clean soil. There's also a paved trail that goes all the way around the perimeter park, and a series of fitness stations you can use to get a great workout.

At 3,500 acres this preserve is one of the largest in Virginia. Being comprised mostly of wetlands it's an excellent place for fishing and kayaking.
