A wide gravel fire road leading along the spine of the ridge that runs parallel to the coast for the length of Andrew Molera State Park. Panoramic views the whole time. There are some steep sections, and the entire length is sun exposed, so it can get quite hot. Carry plenty of water.

This unmarked trailhead for East Molera Trail is right off Highway 1. There is ample parking (for a fee) in the Andrew Molera State Park parking area 1/4 mile ahead. From there, head south, where you will see a white barn that marks a path leading to an underpass for safe access to the trailhead. There is no water access on the East Molera Trail, so bring more than you think you will need, as most of the trail is very exposed. Additionally, there are lots of ticks, so plan accordingly. Trekking poles are ideal, as portions of the route are steep with very loose gravel.
