The 15-meter-high water tower was built in 1907 on the Breniger Schornsberg and was in operation until 1957. Protected as a monument since 1986, the brick tower remained unused for a long time until Alexander Lichtenberg from Cologne acquired it from the Euskirchener Gaswerke in 1989. In the following years, the tower was used, among other things, as a conference center and a restaurant. Since March 22, 2014, a new tenant has been operating an e-bike station with a bicycle shop and gastronomy in the tower. The bridge serves as a shortcut if we don't have time to walk all the way around the pond. It offers beautiful views of the water on both sides.

A pleasant drive – no car traffic; I enjoyed it again yesterday, February 18, 2026. Very quiet, very pleasant, and "far away" from civilization.
