The imperial post office was built in 1900 as a successor to the first Oranienburg post office and was used as a post office until 1926. After that, it was the headquarters of the Oranienburg municipal savings bank, which in 1952 became the district savings bank of the newly formed Oranienburg district. In the mid-1990s, the building was extensively renovated. Since then, a branch of the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse has been located in the premises.
