To commemorate the forced laborers in the outer camp "Auerwerke". This was a large chemical plant in Oranienburg in which experiments with Deuteruim were made - a precursor of materials for the construction of atomic bombs. In addition to Heinkel's works in Germendorf, these works were the main reason why Oranienburg was bombed to rubble and ashes. The (non-existent) secrets should not fall into the hands of the advancing Red Army.
