Nogent-le-Roi Castle

Highlight • Castle

The castle of Nogent-le-Roi dates from the 15th century and was built by Pierre de Brézé, a close adviser to King Charles VII1. You can admire the neo-Louis XIII style of the current building, built in 1863 by Alfred Chapelain, and discover the remains of the medieval fortress, such as the surrounding wall and the two square towers. You can also enjoy the magnificent park that surrounds the castle, where there is an old windmill that was used to pump water during the Second Empire. The park is open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and hosts various exhibitions and events throughout the year. The Château de Nogent-le-Roi is an ideal destination for a relaxing and cultural hike.

Saint-Sulpice Church of Châteaudun

Highlight • Religious Site

The Church of Saint-Sulpice in Nogent-Le-Roi is an impressive church built in the 15th century and which formed part of the defensive wall that protected the entrance to the town. You can admire its beautiful stained glass windows and its wrought iron choir screen inside, as well as its original tower outside. The church is located in the heart of Nogent-Le-Roi, a charming town with old half-timbered houses and a castle.

Villiers-le-Morhier

Highlight • Other

Municipality of Eure-et-Loir, about twenty kilometers from Chartres and its cathedral, Villiers-le-Morhier is located in the heart of the Royal Valley of the Eure, not far from Maintenon and Nogent-le-Roi.

The name comes from the former lords of Villiers, the Moriers, and developed mainly in the 13th century. Villiers-le-Morhier experienced significant growth between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century, thanks to the existence of a railway line that connected Auneau-Ville to Dreux via the neighboring town of Maintenon.

Even today, the town of Villiers-le-Morhier continues to seduce visitors with its significant architectural heritage, a testament to a rich history.

Maintenon Aqueduct

Highlight • Bridge

The construction of the aqueduct of Maintenon began in 1686 but it was never finished. Indeed, this work of art intended to supply water to the Palace of Versailles was no longer a priority from 1689.

The built part of the aqueduct stretches for 955 meters, more than 28 meters high.
