Howell's Cottage offers a glimpse back in time into Maria Island’s early 20th-century domestic history. The house was built by the Howell family, who arrived on the farm in the early 1900s. The inside of the cottage was lined using timber salvaged from old packing crates and insulated with layers of vintage newspapers. Maria Island was formally declared a national park in 1972, the Howells left behind this landmark that is open to looking at a few small informational panels inside.
