Gap Peak is not a beginner summit. Once above treeline there's a scree slope where a general trail lies, but there is an notable scramble to the summit. The scramble is a class 3 to moderate class 4; a helmet is advised. There is also a ridge walk at the top, with a sloped mountain on either side. The views from the top are pretty breathtaking, but if you are not comfortable scrambling using your hands, consider coming up above the treeline for some views and turning back. A stone carin marks the summit.
