It is a huge statue of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on a 12-meter-high pedestal.
The statue overlooks the harbor, the sea, and the city of Kuşadası.
The inscription on the monument reads „YURTTA SULH, CİHANDA SULH“, which means „Peace at home, peace in the world“.
