A beautiful Alpine hut used as a shelter by shepherds during the summer. It offers a wonderful view of the Arera and Menna mountains. In case of sudden bad weather, it can be a shelter—not inside, as it is enclosed, but thanks to its overhanging roofs and woodshed.

Embark on the Tre Pizzi Alpine Trail, a challenging hike that leads you through the rugged beauty of the Orobie Alps. This difficult route covers 4.2 miles (6.8 km) and climbs a significant 1734 feet (528 metres), typically requiring about 3 hours and 24 minutes to complete. You will traverse sparse woodlands before emerging onto open alpine slopes, where the dramatic Tre Pizzi peaks dominate the skyline. Along the way, you can find the serene Pietra Quadra Lake, its calm waters reflecting the surrounding rocky walls.

To begin your adventure, head to the Baite di Mezzeno parking area, which serves as the trailhead for this route. You can reach this starting point by driving from Roncobello in approximately ten minutes. This trail is best enjoyed during favorable weather conditions, as the final ascent involves a short, rocky section that demands careful navigation. Plan your visit to allow ample time to complete the hike before dusk, especially given its difficult rating.

This trail offers more than just stunning views; it also provides glimpses into the region's natural and cultural heritage. You will follow CAI trail 217, passing by the historic Baita dei Tre Pizzi, an abandoned structure that tells tales of the area's pastoral past. The Tre Pizzi themselves are often compared to the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Dolomites, making this a notable destination for alpine enthusiasts seeking a rewarding experience in the mountains.

The Sentiero dei Roccoli from Baresi is a difficult hike, covering 8.8 miles (14.2 km) with a significant elevation gain of 3836 feet (1169 metres). You should plan for about 6 hours and 58 minutes to complete it. As you hike, you will discover historic roccoli, traditional hunting huts nestled in the Bergamo Alps. The trail offers wide views across mountain meadows where sheep graze, leading you through wild rocky areas and high-altitude meadows. You will also pass the quiet Pozza della Fontana, a small seasonal pond that attracts wildlife. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the Arera and Menna peaks from spots like the Baita di Monte Campo. You will also see interesting mountain pine bushes and rocks that are prime examples of Lombard Verrucano. To begin your hike, head to Baresi village. You can drive directly to the village, and parking is available conveniently near the starting point of the trail. This makes access straightforward for those arriving by car. The route is well-marked with red and white CAI signs, guiding you through the network of paths. The roccoli along this path are valuable examples of local architecture, showcasing a centuries-old alpine culture that peaked in the nineteenth century. You will encounter structures like Roccolo del Corno, offering mountain views, and the still-working Roccolo della Fontana, where fresh water flows. This trail connects to other CAI routes, making it part of a larger Lombardy hiking network that preserves both natural beauty and cultural heritage in these ancient mountains.
