The former grain silo in Wacken has been converted into the Wacken-Tower. Since 1990, Wacken has been home to the world's largest heavy metal festival, the Wacken Open Air. The grain silo from the 70s has now been redesigned by the festival organizer into the new landmark of the otherwise tranquil village – the Wacken-Tower.

Widely recognizable is the Wacken tower. Previously, large flags were lowered. Meanwhile it is painted completely black with the Wacken logo
