"The realism of the figure is touching. Not only is the design of the statue a reflection of reality, the story itself also happened in real life. Adolf Brütt spent several holidays in Möltenort, where one day the fisherman Klaus Löpthien saved a young woman from drowning The sculptor later created the bronze figure in his honour, which was purchased by the Berlin National Gallery as a major work of German realism.One version is now on the Museumsberg in Flensburg, a second cast was set up in 1991 at the site of the event in Möltenort.
