Hiking

The large metal Knoll Trail sign is a good landmark among the somewhat confusing network of small, intersecting trails around the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon. The Knoll Trail itself connects Pine, Juniper, and Oak Creek Canyons, running north-south; taking Middle or South Oak Creek Trails to the Knoll Trail can give you access to these areas that bypasses the Scenic Loop. From this intersection you also get nice views of the steep north side of Potato Knoll (Wilson Pimple) at the base of the hulking northeast side of Mt. Wilson.
