    Hiking

From this hill it is possible to climb the mountain of the same name or descend into the Stura Valley towards the Roburent lakes. Gorgeous landscape on both sides.

It can be reached from Lake Superior of Roburent via a fairly steep but easily passable push/portage, the view is spectacular.
The descent route towards the Maira Valley is technical with many passages on stones, especially from the middle onwards, we covered almost all of it in the saddle

Spectacular panoramic point. The descent has tight bends with loose stones.

Embark on the Monte Scaletta loop tour, a challenging hike that spans 11.7 miles (18.9 km) between Valle Maira and Valle Stura in the Italian Alps. This difficult route demands very good fitness and alpine experience, featuring a substantial elevation gain of 4478 feet (1365 metres) and typically taking 8 hours and 34 minutes to complete. You will traverse varied terrain, from pastures and alpine paths to rugged scree gullies and rocky sections, all while enjoying expansive panoramic views of Valle Stura, the Roburent lakes, and Rocca la Meja.

Before you set out, be aware that this trail includes exposed and technical sections, some equipped with fixed chains or ropes to aid your progression. A notable feature is a 40-meter military tunnel leading to the summit, which requires a flashlight and caution due to its narrow, low ceiling. For your safety, it is advisable to consult weather and avalanche bulletins, and if you lack extensive alpine experience, consider hiring a guide. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are essential for navigating the route's demanding conditions.

What makes this loop tour truly stand out is its rich historical context, with well-preserved remnants of the Alpine Wall, including fortifications, bunkers, and observatories. The summit cross itself is distinctive, reportedly built from machine-gun parts. Beyond the history, the trek consistently delivers spectacular 360-degree views from the summit of Monte Scaletta, allowing you to gaze upon peaks like Oronaye and Vanclava, and even catch a glimpse into neighboring France.
