The road to the parking lot from Helmcken Falls is quite bumpy, with lots of potholes, etc.
It's no problem with a pickup truck or SUV, and doable with a regular car, but you do have to be a bit careful.
The "flying" fish are worth it, though.

When I visited in early October, I witnessed salmon jumping here — very awe-inspiring! According to Pacific Salmon Explorer, that's the peak season for Coho salmon runs ( salmonexplorer.ca/explore/data/run-timing/fraser/coho/north-thompson-709 ), but Chinook and Pink salmon appear earlier.

The observation platform is reachable by bicycle: after the Helmcken Falls turnoff, continue another 14 km on the unpaved forest service road segment of Clearwater Valley Rd, then turn onto a short singletrack trail to descend to the Bailey's Chute observation platform. Tire width ≥ 32 mm recommended.
