Waltersgrün belonged to the Schönthal monastery around 1115. In 1373 it was acquired by the Stockau monastery.
Around 1930, 273 people lived here in 61 houses. Only two crosses, the overgrown village pond and a brick spring well are left of the former village in the Bohemian Forest.
