We explored a beautiful Ice Cave on an outlet glacier near Skaftafell National Park with Icelandic Mountain Guides. To get to the Ice Cave, we travelled over a stunning outlet glacier, navigating through a labyrinth of high glacial ridges, deep crevasses, and other glacial landscape features.
The tour starts at our Skaftafell Base Camp, right on the campsite by the visitor center.
Getting to the Ice Cave can take up to 2 hours, depending on conditions. Traversing the outlet glaciers of Vatnajökull glacier with its beautiful surroundings is a big part of the experience.
