The trail begins by winding through the ancient "Bosco del Bandito," a protected beech forest with monumental trees, before transitioning to steeper sections of meadows, rocky outcrops, and detritus. You will discover the crystalline glacial Laghi del Frisson and Lago degli Alberghi, nestled among rocks and surrounded by high-altitude pastures dotted with colorful rhododendrons and gentians. Small waterfalls and water-smoothed boulders along the Val Grande torrent add to the diverse scenery.
This route is classified for experienced hikers, requiring good physical fitness, sure-footedness, and robust footwear for its varied terrain. Starting from the characteristic, semi-abandoned village of Palanfré, you can find traditional local cuisine and even purchase local cheeses at the Rifugio L'Arbergh.
