Hautacuperche was one of the central protagonists of the rebellion of the Gomeros against the Spanish occupation in 1488. On the beach of the Valle, from where the Gomeros departed, a statue was dedicated to him.

The bronze has an impressive height of 4 meters and is located in Putilla in the Valle Gran Rey directly opposite the Hotel Gran Rey.
