House number 48 is the birthplace of the poet Klaus Groth, whose grandfather had built the long, single-storey gabled house (with grain and storage loft) here in 1796 and whose father ran a gruel mill in addition to farming livestock. Klaus Groth, born on April 24, 1819, grew up here as a highly gifted and very malleable child who heard all the history and stories from Dithmarschen in Low German from his grandfather "Obbe", which the poet then processed into the volume of poems "Quickborn" in 1848-51.groth-gesellschaft.de/museum
