Mountain biking

The founding of the castle goes back to the Heimberg dynasty in the 13th century. After their extinction in 1262, the Haimburg fell to a line of the Stein von Hilpoltstein, this family in turn died out in 1362 and as a result, the castle went to the Palatinate in 1380. In the middle of the 15th century, its owner, Count Palatine Johann I von Neumarkt, expanded it into a magnificent hunting lodge. The castle was looted several times during the Thirty Years War and then burned down for good in 1648.
