The Château du Rousset, whose construction and arrangements stretched out between the 13th and 18th centuries, rises on the right bank of the Mare, in a wooded valley, at the western end of the town of Margerie- Chantagret. It is built on a small rocky eminence surrounded on two sides by the river.
Quoted from 1260, the Rousset fortress was the possession over the centuries of families from the Bastie, Lothon, Sugny and Damascus until the Revolution. Sold as national property, it had many owners during the 19th century. It has belonged to the Midroit-Guigon family since 1873.
