Parts of the multi-part nature reserve Rothaarkamm and Wiesentäler (LP Erndtebrück; CDDA No. 555560747; 2004 designated; 2.7806 km² in size) as well as those of the landscape protection areas Netphen (CDDA No. 390136; 1985; 118.9074 km²) extend on the Ederkopf. and Erndtebrück (CDDA No. 389566; 2011; 60.6865 km²). In addition, areas of the fauna-flora-habitat area Rothaarkamm and meadow valleys (FFH No. 5015-301; 34.4146 km²) spread out there. Deciduous and otherwise mostly coniferous forest plots of the Wittgenstein Forest are on the survey.
