Monte dei Cocci or Monte Testaccio is today an artificial hill, but in ancient Rome it was considered a real landfill. Here, in fact, millions of testae (shards, in fact) were stacked, which were mainly fragments of amphorae used for the transport of goods unloaded in the nearby river port on the Tiber.
