The house specialty: fried fish with potato salad and a view of the Elbe New name and an (almost) new house: The traditional Hafenschänke directly at the Geesthacht harbor has become Pier 3. It is a modern snack bar, a fish bistro. The house specialty: fried fish with potato salad. "We have tested fried fish in almost all of Hamburg's fish institutions and have continually improved our dough for the crispy shell." says Christine Rehbein. That was worth it. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, we can only recommend the fried fish at Pier 3. From fish & chips to salmon rolls – “Pier 3” focuses on uncomplicated snacks. The menu at “Pier 3” initially includes fish & chips, salmon rolls, scampi, salmon fillets and meatballs, fries, potato salad and salad. “We want to start with this and then respond to what the guests want,” says Eve Pippirs, announcing an addition to the offer. What do you eat in the fish bistro if you don't like fish but you like the view? Even those who don't like fish will find something at Pier 3. For example, if you like to eat homemade meatballs, you can get a very tasty version at Pier 3. Anyone who knows the building at the harbor from the time when it was the “Hafenschänke” will hardly believe their eyes inside. While not much has changed outside apart from an extension and, above all, the tidy area, inside no stone has remained unturned. “We completely renovated the building,” reports Monika Pippirs. The building had been empty since 2012. Instead of demolition, which politicians temporarily favored, the building was preserved after more and more citizens protested. In the last few months, the house was completely gutted, a modern kitchen was installed, the guest area was expanded and everything was bathed in fresh colors. “The many Geesthacht craftsmen we had here did a great job,” says Monika Pippirs Pier 3 is a family business: the sisters Eve Pippirs and Christine Rehbein and their mother Monika Pippirs renovated the house with attention to detail. "In Geesthacht there are so few restaurants right on the water. We are happy that we were able to preserve this gem." says Eve Pippirs happily. https://www.pier3-geesthacht.de/

There is a beautiful view of the harbor from the bridge. It is brilliant that the bridge can be driven on and you can quickly get to the peninsula. Overall this area is well designed, nice section of this route.
