The Catholic Parish Church Kreuzerhöhung (Dreifaltigkeitskirche) in Monreal is located directly on the Elzbach and, with its 32-meter-long structure of unplastered local rubble stone, is still a remarkable architectural feature today. An antechamber under the tower leads into the single-nave nave, which opens into a recessed, five-sided choir with a cross-ribbed vault. The organ gallery is accessible via a narrow spiral staircase, located in a small tower at the northwest corner between the west tower and the nave. The Heiligkreuz Chapel, adjoining the eastern end of the southern nave wall, is a beautiful example of late Gothic architecture.

The Catholic parish church of "Most Holy Trinity" from 1460, in Monreal, is built in the Gothic style and possesses numerous original furnishings. The church is located on the banks of the Elz river, below the Große Burg, also known as Löwenburg. The church is built of rubble stone. The bell tower rises on the west facade with its pointed, polygonal pyramid roof. The exterior walls are structured by high-set buttresses. A vestibule under the tower leads into the single-nave nave, which extends over three bays and opens into a recessed, pentagonally closed choir. Like the vestibule, it has a cross-ribbed vault. The vault ribs rest on bundled wall pilasters, which are decorated with leaf capitals. Some end on consoles with expressive faces. The choir has a net vault, on the keystones of which are depicted coats of arms of the Lords of Virneburg. On the right side of the nave, a pointed arch opens to the baptistery, whose cross-ribbed vault is supported by slender columns. The capitals are decorated with foliage, coats of arms, and a head. A total of three small bridges cross the Elz, allowing you to switch from one bank to the other at various points. The most beautiful is probably the bridge in the middle, the Johannesbrücke. It is equipped with both a lion monument and the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. John of Nepomuk or John of Pomuk was a Bohemian priest and is considered the patron saint of bridges.
