Formed from Tunbridge Wells Sandstone, this was once a campsite for nomadic hunters. Now popular with climbers, the outcrops are tor like and have a similar feel to the granite rocks of Devon and Cornwall.

So close to the centre of the town, Tunbridge Wells Common is a great place for running. With sandstone rock formations dotted about, there is plenty to see as well as woodlands and wildlife. Until 1851, a racecourse was situated on the common, with Princess Victoria being a racegoer in 1834. The course is now a footpath and bridleway and can be followed on foot.
