February 22, 2026, San Antonio River Walk

The River Walk is away from the main tourist crowds. Beautiful paths follow the river. From Conception Park and back, I recommend walking along the river and not taking the loop via the golf course.

Lots of picknic tables in the shade, bathrooms and a water fountain make this a nice spot for resting. There also is a well kept playgound for the smaller hikers, and a huge open field, e.g. for ball games.

Wonderful mission with a well kept church and impressive grounds showing the layout of such an outpost much better than the over-touristy Alamo. There is a fee of $1 to enter the church, which may also be paid through a QR code.

Beatiful art next to the hiking path along the San Antonio river. Nice rest area and coffee shop nearby.

Little park at the confluence of San Pedro Creek and San Antonio River. Take the steps up to the viewpoit and rest area under the impressive canopy made out of concrete. Not the most quiet place in the world due to the Interstate highway nearby.

Refreshing stop in the heat. It is so lovely, that they also thought of our dogs when designing the Riverwalk's water fountains.
