Paved and unpaved paths lead criss-cross through the salt marshes of Fier d'Ars. They were already laid out in the 14th century by monks. Nowadays, the harvests are brought together by a cooperative that organizes marketing. You can often buy the products directly at the salt marshes. A bizarre landscape that is worth discovering.

The centre of the pretty, Old Town, some lovely cafés and shops. On the main road (Av. le Mail) you will find modern shopping and restaurants with a Carrefour which is very much larger & well stocked than it would appear from the outside. Open 8am - 8pm (13.00 Sunday).

The Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation was completely rebuilt between 1865 and 1867 based on plans by architect Ernest Massiou. It inherited the altar, baptismal font, statues, and votive offerings from the old church, which date back to the 18th century. It also boasts beautiful stained-glass windows. The church is distinguished by the inscription "French Republic - Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" engraved in the stone above the porch. The inscription was likely added in 1905, following the separation of Church and State.

Charming port, started out rough & ready but was refurbished at the end of the 18th century. Closely linked to the salt trade, between the two world wars it became a marina and berth for Cazavant class boats
