The Söltjerbrunnen in Bad Münder am Deister commemorates the long tradition of salt production in the town. The fountain was created in 1987 by the sculptor Bernd Maro and stands in front of the town hall on Marktstraße. It depicts two so-called "Söltjer", or salt workers, at work at a boiling pan. One collects the salt produced, the other transports it further in a basket. The figures illustrate the hard and strenuous work of salt production, which has been documented in Bad Münder since the year 1033. Today, the fountain is considered a symbol of the economic importance of salt and commemorates the historical development of the town as a salt and spa resort.
