The old Pfarrerhof is a beautiful building in the heart of Zusamarshausen, where the Zusmarshausen/Horgau music school has been housed for some time. The building has long belonged to the Zusmarshausen market town, and the new Pfarrerhaus was built nearby.

The building was built in 1505 by Prince Bishop Heinrich IV of Lichtenau as the seat of the episcopal administration. Over the years, the castle, which was owned by the Bishopric of Augsburg until secularization, was rebuilt several times and additional buildings were added. A total of eleven bishops changed as lords of the castle. After 1803, it initially served as a residence for the district judge and later became the seat of the Zusmarshausen district office. From 1931 the Zusmarshausen forestry office was housed in the palace. It currently houses the Zusmarshausen forestry operation of the Bavarian State Forests.

As a monument, it is entered in the Bavarian list of monuments. In the 19th century the church was restored several times and a painted coffered ceiling was added. In addition, new altars and a pulpit were purchased. In 1939 the late Gothic nave was demolished and by 1944 an enlarged nave based on the previous building was built according to designs by Anton Wenzel and Michael Kurz. In 1979/80 the choir and high altar were redesigned. In 2003 a baptistery was set up under the gallery.
