The Oberteich is the town lake of Schönberg, a town in northwest Mecklenburg. The approximately eleven-hectare Oberteich is located within the town limits of Schönberg, northwest of the historic center around St. Laurentius Church and the market square. It is surrounded by a park with a lakeside path, a prominent feature of the townscape. As a fishing area, the Oberteich contains eel, perch, bream, pike, carp, roach, tench, and zander. It is fed from the west by the Rupensdorfer Bach stream, along which lie other extensive lakes and pond systems, such as the Rupensdorf Ponds and the Schilfteich (Reed Pond), which is connected to a carp breeding facility. This natural network provides Schönberg with an attractive local recreation area, to which several of the town's sports and leisure facilities are attached. The lake was dammed in the Middle Ages and served as a millpond. It was mentioned in the election capitulation of Bishop Heinrich III of Ratzeburg. Bergmeier's document from 1511 contains the passage: "He was obliged, if he were to own Schönberg, not to dam the water in the upper pond (Latin: 'superior piscina', still called Oberteich) in such a way that the people in Rubensdorf suffered damage, however he had to keep sufficient water for his mill."

In my eyes already a lost place, a little dilapidated but very nice to look at. Couldn't see a ticket machine at the train station or I overlooked it.
