Since Saturday, November 10, 2018, Zaltbommel has gained another statue. The day before the grand celebration of St. Martin's Day and the national 'Day of Informal Care' in Zaltbommel, a large statue of St. Martin was unveiled. The statue was designed by artist and fellow parishioner Maria van Gerwen. The unveiling was musically supported by brass ensemble Fohkes from 's-Hertogenbosch. The local scouts - largely sea scouts - regulated traffic, among other things. The statue was covered with a large red cloak as a reference to the cloak that Saint Martin cut in half and partly gave to a beggar. The statue has been given a place in front of the General Old Cemetery on Boschstraat with a view of St. Martin's Church. www.katholiekbommelerwaard.nl
