In the Middle Ages, there was a large enclosed area here with a pleasure garden (similar to a small park), gardener's house, falconry, apiaries, dog kennels, and a cemetery. The princely family used it for leisurely strolls. After destruction during the Thirty Years' War, only the name "Burggarten" remained.

Paul von Hindenburg (1847–1934) became a national hero in World War I as the "Savior of East Prussia" after the Battle of Tannenberg (1914). In 1916, he rose to become Chief of the Supreme Army Command. On his 70th birthday on October 2, 1917, the German Empire celebrated grandly. Hindenburg monuments sprang up everywhere, and streets and squares were named after him. The Hindenburg Stone in Burg Stargard was erected for this occasion (1917). It originally stood in the market square. In the 1930s, it was moved to the castle park (near the hilltop castle Stargard).

The church in Rowa is a late Gothic towerless boulder building from the end of the 15th century that is still close to the Gothic style.
