Paoters Pättken (also "Poaters Pättken") near Darfeld is a historic, very natural forest path in the Münsterland region and is considered a particularly beautiful stretch for hiking and cycling. It is located in the forest near Haus Burlo close to Rosendahl-Darfeld. What makes the path special: It is a centuries-old trail that monks from the Kleinburlo monastery once used to walk to Höpingen. The narrow path runs like a hollow way between tall trees and leads through the varied landscape of the Baumberge. The municipality of Rosendahl describes it as "arguably the most beautiful cycling stage in the Münsterland."

Experience species-appropriate free-range farming up close: It's simply a joy to watch the chickens busily scratching and pecking on the lush meadow, enjoying life in the open air. A wonderful insight into modern, animal-friendly agriculture! 🐓🌿

The Hühnermobil from Wenning's Mühlenhof in Bauerschaft Ostendorf, in the Leer district of Horstmar, is a wonderful, sustainable direct marketing station and an extremely likeable micro-stop on your bike tour through the hilly Steinfurter Land. Here, the laying hens live in species-appropriate free-range conditions directly on the green meadow and regularly move to fresh pasture sections with their mobile coop.

A fountain sculpture with a water feature created by the artist Walter Wittek. 21 cubic stones in a triangular shape symbolize the 21 villages along the Vechte river from its source to its mouth in Zwolle. At the push of a button, water bubbles over the inscribed stones.

Origin of the river Vechte. According to a court decision, it is formed (not originates!) by the confluence of the Rockeler Bach and Burloer Bach. The Vechte flows through several towns in Germany and flows into the Zwarte Water in the Netherlands.

🚲🌊✨ The confluence of the Rockeler Bach and the Burloer Bach is the exact, historically and geographically highly exciting birthplace of the Vechte! Precisely here, in the picturesque border area of the hamlets between Metelen and Schöppingen, the two streams merge and officially continue as the Vechte from this point on their long journey into the Netherlands.

🚲💦✨ The Vechte-Steine monument and water feature is a striking, very linear design element of the Vechte stations, which combines art, geometry, and the flowing element of the river in a special way! As part of the region-wide Vechte projects, this monument sets a modern architectural mark on the historical river course.

When you switch from your stop at the geometrically carved cube stones of the nearby Vechtesteine fountain to this model, you will experience the perfect arc between modern design and the deep-rooted history of the place. 🪨📐
