The oak tree stands in the center of the triangular market square. In 1815, the square was named after the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III, and linden trees were planted around the oak to beautify the square. In 1864, another peace oak was added.

Until the great city fire in 1803, the town hall stood freely on the triangular market square (at the fork of the old main roads to Rheinsberg and Gransee). It was a two-story half-timbered building with a clock tower. After the fire, the new town hall was built in a new location (no longer directly on the market, but set back in today's Straße des Friedens). It was erected between 1807 and 1809 under Mayor Werdermann according to designs by Brasch jun.

The mill was first documented in 1530 and originally belonged to the Lindow convent (later the Lindow ladies' convent and office). It is one of the last remaining water and windmills in the region. In the Middle Ages, it served the monastery, which was one of the richest in the March of Brandenburg. Fires destroyed parts of the complex in 1805 and 1846; it was rebuilt afterwards. The current two-story main building dates from 1848 (or reconstruction after 1846) and is an example of Prussian rural architecture.
