Once planted on open heathlands in the northern Randbøl Heath in 1809 and known as Gjødding Plantation, Gødding Skov has transformed into a diverse forest of spruce, beech, and oak. Hidden among its northern and south-western parts are hundreds of stone mounds — remnants of 2,500-year-old field systems from the Early Iron Age, built from stones cleared by farmers to cultivate the soil. The ancient Oxen or Army Road crosses the area, leaving behind sunken tracks and over 20 burial mounds along its path. At the heart of the forest stands Kæltringhøj, an impressive Bronze Age burial mound rising 5 meter high with a diameter of 45 meter. A striking testament to the area’s deep history.

The Renaissance castle Engelsholm Slot is beautifully situated on the shores of Engelsholm Lake with its associated forest and park. The castle has had many owners over the years but has been used as a college since 1940. One of Denmarks first factories, Engelsholms Papirfabrik, was located near the now museum of Randbøldal. The Renaissance Engelsholm Castle was built in 1592 with a rectangular floor plan. In the corners there are towers with a square floor plan, which received their onion domes during renovation work in 1730. The castle park was laid out according to the French model. The castle has housed an adult education center since 1940 and is generally not open to the public, but occasionally there are, among other things, classical concerts.
