The Coesfeld beekeepers' association's educational apiary is a great meeting point for anyone interested in beekeeping and the fascinating world of bees. The apiary serves not only as a meeting point for club members to care for their bee colonies, but above all for education and enlightenment. Here you can experience firsthand how bees are kept and how important they are for our ecosystem. Visits or guided tours (for example, for school classes or interested walkers) are often offered, where you can be clearly explained how bees live, how the beekeeper works, and of course, how honey gets into the jar.

Near Varlar Castle, between Osterwick and Coesfeld, little remains today to remind us that it was originally founded (around 1122) as a Premonstratensian monastery. In the course of secularization, it came into the possession of the Wild- and Rheingrafen zu Salm-Grumbach in 1803, the later Princes zu Salm-Horstmar. The castle is still inhabited by the family today. In 1828, the new owners commissioned the architect Adolf von Vagedes to convert the monastery building into a castle. Since then, it has been characterized primarily by its classicist east facade. The complex can be viewed from the outside.
