Wonderful tour of Wietze via the Hornbostel / Bannetze lock. Through the forest to Meißendorf. It's worth taking a break on the Gut Sunder site with iced coffee and delicious cake. There is also the Nabu with its exhibition. A tour through the pond landscape, a paradise for nature lovers. On the way back to Wietze in the direction of Bannetze, with lookout towers and a view of the Meißendorf ponds.

A nice place for fishing, swimming and walking with a fine sandy beach. The Kalka lakes are located on Hornbosteler Strasse between Winsen and Hornbostel. There are limited parking spaces at the roadside. A destination that is always worthwhile!

The Kalker was sold to the Winsen fishing club and after countless garbage clearing actions, unpleasant encounters with young bathers and ultimately another death in the bathing lake, it has been expressly forbidden to swim in the Kalker again since 2021. In 2021, the police even rode down the Kalker with a squadron of horses and sent the bathers home. If you refused, the emergency vehicle came with a few colleagues and they then gave you a dismissal. In 2022, the police were no longer seen there on site. There are still anglers running around trying to drive people away, which doesn't always work, however. Otherwise, the Kalker is one of my favorite bathing ponds in this region. I have already swum several kilometers through the lake here.

For decades, the Kalker was a popular bathing lake in the region. Unfortunately, the tenant (Angelverein Winsen Aller) had increasing problems with young people and their understanding of how to behave in nature. After a drugged and drunk non-swimmer drowned in the water while playing ball in 2020, unfortunately nobody is allowed to swim here anymore. 🥺
