The St. Matthew's Chapel in Bothmer was founded in 1610 by Abbot Conrad von Bothmer, based on a donation from Canon Otto von Bothmer. It initially served as a place of worship for both the castle and the congregation before being closed in 1791. The building was subsequently used as a granary for almost two centuries. It was not until 1981 that a comprehensive restoration was undertaken by Günther von Bothmer, with the support of the church, the district, and the monastery chamber. Today, the chapel is occasionally used for services and weddings.
