Gottesgab Fish Ponds

Highlight (Segment) • Lake

The place was first mentioned in writing in the Fraisch book under the mountains of 1604 as "Gottesgab". Judging by the name, the property was probably a gift made to the church.[3]

Towards the end of the 18th century there were four estates in Gottesgab (castle, farm, sheep farm, 1 good). The high court was exercised by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office in Dachsbach. The manor of Gottesgab was in charge of the village and community and the landlordship of all properties.[4]

From 1797 to 1810 the place was subject to the Justice Office Dachsbach and Chamber Office Neustadt. As part of the municipal edict, Gottesgab was initially assigned to the tax district of Cairolindach, formed in 1811, and then in 1813 to the newly created tax district and the rural community of Birnbaum. With the second municipal edict (1818), it was assigned to the newly formed rural community of Peppen Höchstädt.[5] On January 1, 1972, Gottesgab was incorporated into Uehlfeld as part of the local government reform.

Large park with fallow deer. If you're ever here, you should take a walk around and enjoy the view of the castle from the other side.

Originally a fortified moated castle, of which the surrounding walls and a tower from 1574 still exist. The castle that now stands was given a baroque makeover from 1709, of which parts of the old complex are still preserved in the north wing. The south wing was built from 1719. As the former property of the Imperial Baron von Seckendorff, Weingartsgreuth Castle has been owned by the heir, Baron von Seckendorff-von Witzleben, since 1962. https://wachenroth.de/ortsteile/weingartsgreuth/

Here, right next to the road, a pair of swans are breeding, 5 eggs and one has just hatched. The swans are totally chilled out, standing only 2 m from the nest.
