The Via dell'Abbondanza is the main artery (decumanus maximus) of ancient Pompeii, connecting the Forum with Porta Sarno. Along this east-west axis, the heart of economic and social life unfolded, characterized by numerous shops, inns, and important residences such as the Fullonica di Stephanus. The street, recognizable by its oval stepping stones for pedestrian crossing, is one of the busiest and best-preserved streets in the excavations.

Piazza del Plebiscito is a constantly crowded place, where it's not uncommon to encounter tourists attempting a curious experiment: crossing the square... blindfolded! This isn't a modern challenge launched on social media, but a tradition rooted in an ancient legend, dating back to Queen Margherita. The challenge involves walking 170 meters, starting from the Royal Palace and ending up at the equestrian statues, attempting to pass exactly between them. This task proves nearly impossible: visitors, convinced they've reached their goal, always end up in a completely different spot. This "failure" is attributed to the curse Queen Margherita placed on the prisoners of the Kingdom of Naples. According to legend, the queen granted monthly pardons to certain inmates, but only if they managed to overcome a challenge: crossing the square blindfolded and passing between the two statues. None succeeded.
