There was formerly a high memorial stele (Soviet war memorial), which was dismantled after 1990. Today, information boards provide information about the history of the place. Additionally, there is a memorial from 1971 for the victims of fascism (originally located elsewhere).

It is a Neo-Gothic brick building from 1914/15 and has the tallest tower of all Catholic churches in Vorpommern (approx. 45 meters). Three bronze bells hang in the tower (including "Maria Rosenkranzkönigin"). The bell frame was renewed in 2020.

The Ostkaserne Demmin (today, among other things, a library - also known as the former Uhlan barracks) is a historical ensemble of buildings in the Hanseatic city of Demmin. From 1860/1862 it served as barracks for the newly established 2nd Pomeranian Uhlan Regiment No. 9.

Demmin was a member of the Hanseatic League from 1283 until the 17th century. Mecklenburg was, so to speak, the Hanseatic League's breadbasket, and Demmin was an important trading center. Considering the extremely convenient transport links, it seems predestined for this. First, there is the Peene, a river that is easily navigable between Malchin on the Kummerower River, via Demmin and Anklam to the lagoon. The Peene flows around Demmin in a semicircle, which was good for the city's security. But not only the Peene: the Tollense and Trebel also flow into the Peene here. Consequently, there are several port facilities. Demmin has road connections in all directions. This is why there were no fewer than five gates in the city fortifications! And then there is the railway connection, which connects Demmin with Stralsund and Neustrelitz to Berlin.

I absolutely can't agree with the alleged renovation or security measures. Modern stone was used there. I wonder if it really looked like this? Without a gate, door, or windows?
