We started at the upper parking lot and initially hiked towards Lagoa das Empadadas and then back over Pico das Eguas. This section is probably not suitable for many, as the path is steep and runs directly along the crater rim. In addition, visibility was limited due to the clouds and it was storming heavily, so you should definitely pay attention to the cloud cover! In contrast, the further hike to the viewpoint of Lagoa Azul was a breeze, which was then worthwhile.

Unless you come in high summer, you will see NOTHING but fog on the entire route. The first half of the route you walk through fog and strong wind blowing over the heights. Okay for people who also love rough nature, but it has nothing to do with a leisurely hike anymore. As I said: probably different in the period July/August.
